A sometimes forgotten component of Cardiovascular evaluation are the vascular aspects of the disease. There are both arterial and venous problems which can range from localized pain to ulcers to loss of limbs, stroke and at times death. One the most effective modalities to to diagnose and treat such conditions is the non invasive ultrasound procedures that are performed in the office. These studies are painless, have no radiation and are usually obtained in 15-30 minutes. We offer carotid, renal, abdominal and lower extremity arterial ultrasound. In addition ultrasound to assess venous insufficiency and Deep Vein thrombosis (clots) are also performed in our office.

These simple, non invasive tests performed at the comfort of the office with zero radiation are 100% safe. Ultrasound waves have no bodily harm, which is why they are used to look at Fetuses in pregnancies.

As non invasive and harmless as ultrasound is, it remains the cornerstone of accurately diagnosing vascular problems. We can visualize and also measure flow through arteries and veins and detect the amount of a particular vessel narrowing and its exact position. For the Veins, we can pick up life threatening clots known as DVTs in addition to evaluation and need for treatment of venous insufficiency that can cause painful varicose veins. Finally the ultrasound can show us narrowing in the carotid arteries that can predispose us to stroke in addition to detection of life threatening conditions such as abdominal aortic aneurysms which at times can be monitored but might need surgical repair!
